How to care for your granite:
Clean spills immediately - Clean with water and a mild soap - Do not use acidic based cleaners, harsh chemicals, or abrasive cleaners - For oily stains, use a poultice of 1 cup flour or baking soda, 5 tbsps dish soap, and enough water to make it the consistency of yogurt. Apply directly to stain and cover with plastic wrap overnight. Wipe clean.
Avoid adding weight to countertop edges. - While granite countertops are very durable, you want to do your best to eliminate any chance of damaging them.
Use trivets or hot pads - If you have small strips of granite countertop near other construction materials, use a trivet or hot pad for any hot dishes. This will help to keep heat away from materials that are less durable than your granite countertops.
Reseal your granite every two years - Sealing your granite does not make it impervious to staining, however, it does give you extra time to clean up spills.
